Which Wheels????

I'm installing a set of 285/75R16's on my 4runner this month. I was gonna mount them to my stock 16x7 5 spoke limited wheels, but I'm thinking about picking up a set of Cragar soft blacks. I know I need a 16" wheel, but should I stick with the 16x7 or would a 16x8 fit these tires better? Also, what backspacing and bolt pattern do I need to get? Here is the link to the wheels. Thanks!

Don't know a whole lot about what spacing to use, but I am sure you could search and find it. With that big of a tire you definately want to get a 16x8. It will give you a better look, as well as extent tire life since you can put a more even pattern on the ground. My brother bought Crager black steel wheels from Jegs.com. Spent $36 a wheel plus center caps, he hs had them for two years and they still look brand new. Jegs.com also has free shipping!

Definately 16x8. I've heard the magic number for backspacing is 4.5", however I would prefer one around 3.75" so it pulls away from the UCA more.

16X8 would let you mount a 305/70 which is the same height but wider. What Nate said about the backspace....

I have a 99 Highlander with OME Spirngs and shocks all around which is supposed to give you a 2" lift. I ordered 305/70 R16's on 16x8 wheels with BFG M/Ts. I had to send them back because they rubbed big time on the rear of the front fender wells. I have been struggling with finding the right combination of wheels and tires for this truck. I like the look of wider tires and enjoy the greater floatation on the sand. I ahve seen alot of 285/75 R16's on the stock wheels but most tire guys tell me that they will not fit.

I can tell you for sure that the 305/70's will not fit without some significant lifting. I was looking for confirmation from someone that the 285/75's will fit and what tires you guys recommend. I had great luck with Kumho M/Ts on my old 4Runner ('94 V6) until I flipped it off a bridge into a creek. You cannot get those tires anymore those.

Size and brand/model input welcome.

Alright....I went with some black pro comp extreme rock crawler steelies, series 97...16x8 with 4" of backspacing. I just test fit them, they are about a 1/4" away from the calipers, but no rubbing so I guess I'm good. I might do a bit of grinding just to be safe.
