Which wheel spacer?

I'm looking at buying a 1 inch wheel spacer to fit larger tires. Are the ebay spacers any different from the Marlin or AllProOffRoad spacers? Ebay is cheaper but are they junk?

ebay carries a wide variety of items....it all depends on the company you are working with---I would spend the extra dough and go with a more reputable company and know you're getting a quality product.

I went through this same situation.

I ended up getting the wheel spacers from All-pro. Who knows if they are better, but, just that piece of mind helps me. If anything fails, you most likely can return it or get some money back. eBay probably not?

SpiderTrax is more $$$ but very reputable. Built to your exact car, not universal.Spidertrax

Get the Spidertrax! Theyre perfect...

I hear a lot of horror stories about offbrand or cheap ones...stuff like them rattling loose, not fitting nicely, wobbling, etc...also DO NOT have someone else install them, do it yourself...every time someone says they had problems, its when a shop installed them...

use the loc-tite provided and torque up all the nuts...check it in about 2 weeks, and then every few months take a torque wrench to it, and just make sure its holding tight

who's the company on e-bay? otherwise tg's from wabfab or me they are great and only like 150 for 4. Like above install yourself and recheck every couple hundred miles or so.

No specific companies. They seem to range from 115 and up. No sense in spending 160+ if they are the same things.

Spidertrax is the way to go. Plus they're BLUE. No really, when it comes to something as important as your wheels coming off, don't skimp!

Ok, having done this myself i have a few things you might want to think about.

I looked high and low before buying mine and after all that i went with an ebay company that only sells spacers and got the set for $50 shipped. And i have to say that i have NO regrets about getting them. All the other ones i found were almost twice the price.

I have had ZERO problems with mine, none at all. They fit perfect and are not going anywhere.

Now, what rims are you useing these on? If it is the stock rims then you might now want to do this. I still have the stock 31" tires on my truck and after adding the spacers they now have a little rub when flexed. With bigger tires this would be REAL bad rubbing. It rubs because it puts the tire out so far that it just barly doesn't clear the fender well anymore.

So spacers are great as long as you wither have a lift or use the stock tire size. No issues at all. But it might make the tires run where they used to not.

Personally i will most likely be removing the spacers i have when i get bigger tires. just because it will be too hard to fit them. But for the stock tire size the looks with them on is SOOOOO uch better. I have to say that i REALLY REALLY like the look with them on.

Don't know about your 1st gen but on my 3rd gen i an running 1.5" with minor rubbing. I could run 2" if i wanted but would really need a lift of some kind.

To see what you can fit just go out and see how much space you have to clear the edge of the wheel well. Messure that and that is the limit for the spacer you can get withut rubbing.

with 1.5" spacers on my 32" tires, i got minimal rubbing until i added my lift...now I get none

as far as the discussion of brand, just be careful, I met a guy who said his friend installed some spacers on her truck that were offbrand and her wheel came right off on the freeway...so just be careful with what you choose, do the install yourself and check it

PS got my spidertrax for only $100

Must have either been an old style spacer that wasn't bolted to the hub and then the wheel bolted to the spacer but just stick the bolt all the way through or it was installed wrong.

Now i don't know that i would do any real offroading with spacers on. Some minor stuff would not be a problem i do that all the time. But real hard stuff i wouldn't do.

Save the hassle and spend the extra $. I bought a set off ebay for a good price but noticed a shake after the install. After inspection they weren't even round After multiple emails the seller never responded and wouldn't replace them. I'll purchase from a reputable company from now on.

This could have very easliy been caused by not putting them on right. You DO have to tourqe the bolts down right the first time you put them on. If you don't it WILL warp them.

Mine came with instructions on how to do it and i followed them and don't have any problems at all with the cheapest set i could find.

Nope. These weren't warped. Family owns a machine shop so we ran them on a Lathe and the studs were not in the center of the wheel spacer. Believe me, I didn't want to eat the spacers.
