Wheel Bearing and CV Replacement

Well since my wheel bearings are going and (1) of my CVs has a small hole in it, guess i'm doing both at the same time on both sides of the 4Runner. I found the CV Replacement article and it seems pretty straight foward. My only issue is there really isn't aything for replacing wheel bearings.

Has anyone ever done this? I saw somewhere the backs had to be pressed? Is this something a shop should do? OR is this something I can handle at home? Anyone is the Delaware area wanna help?

Also going to be doing the OME lift soon, who can I talk to about a certain code?

Thanks
Bob

the cv's aren't too difficult. i did mine last saturday. follow the ncttora link up there and you'll do fine. a word of advice though. don't try to disconnect the knuckle from the lower ball joint. unbolt the tie rod bracket on the bottom of the knuckle. the torque on the bolts should be 67 ft/lbs. the spindle nut is 35 mm. and the torque on it when replacing is 174 ft/lbs. good luck man and let me know how you did.

CVs are not too bad. Just follow the link. When I helped a friend replace his, we went to NAPA. Look strong and I believe they are lifetime. Boots seemed to be as good as OEM.

Even though my 4 runner is not my DD, the lack of a press made me take the 4 runner to a dealer in VA to get the right front bearing replaced. They replaced the upper BJ at the same time. 1 year warranty on both OEM parts and labor for $400 and change.
