Nope. When the SR5 first came out all there were were standard cabs, so it wouldn't make sense to coin a term for it... and there weren't any (and still arent' any) front wheel drive trucks, so coining a term for "rear wheel drive" makes no sense either. It's well documented that it stood for Sport Rally 5speed. Toyota was proud of their 5 speed offering, in those days Japanese trucks still had a poor rep in the USA, and although people were beginning to realise how reliable they were, they were plain and uncomfortable and lacking in features. Toyota was trying to change their image.

Of course, the first American trucks with 4X4 on the side cracked me up - you couldn't tell it was 4wd unless it had the sticker... Now they are all going the car-like route. Pity.

Very much so a pity... I thought that the "standard cab rearwheeldrive 5spd" was wrong... it was this stupid guy at the Toyota Dealership that didn't know anything about Toyotas it seemed... This bs'er tried telling me he raced street bikes and stuff... Telling me that a 600cc was a good "beginner bike". Now, I don't know all the guys on here, but, I've been riding for a long time... and a 600cc (though it can't pop the wheel up like a 1000) is a much better all-around bike. It can take corners waaayyy faster than a 1000... and actually 600's end up beating a lot of 1000's on curvy tracks... so in no sense is a 600 a beginner bike... ahem... sorry for that... I'm glad that now I actually know what "SR5" stands for!

My truck is deffinitly not an sr5. I have zero options, no AC, no Tilt, no CC, No Power Lock, No Power windows, No Clock, 2 speed wiper control, bench seat, etc....
But I do have a 5 speed and a Tach.
So I dont think neccesarly having a 5 speed and a Tach makes your truck an sr5.

My 92 4x4 PU Ext. cab had everything except power windows, but it wasn't an SR5. I had the 4.10 gearing, V6, sliding rear window, tachometer. My buddy had the same year truck except his was SR5 and the only difference I could see were the ugly SR5 pinstripes all over it and he had power windows.
