Hey wonderful YotaTech people
I am rebuilding a 97 5VZFE, out of a 4runner. This is my first engine rebuild since high school, and the learning curve on this one is steep.
I've figured out that the hole 10 o'clock from the oil filter mount is for the oil pressure switch, but the one below that one, 9 o'clock relative to the same oil filter mount, is making me draw a blank. I can't find anything in the service manual about it, though I'm willing to bet I'm looking in the wrong spot.
Thank you so much for any input
In hindsight I should have taken better disassembly notes.
2ToyGuy, thank you!
I ended up crawling under a Tacoma to see what was in that hole, it turns out the 9 o'clock one is a plug, and the one above it is indeed an oil pressure switch. Not sure why there needs to be a plug there but I'm sure the engineers had a good reason for it.
Funny enough, it's the exact size and thread pitch as the crank pulley bolt.
