Of course I say that about my front (want TJM) and rear (want Bentup) bumpers. So far I've backed into one car (big damage to her, none to me) and one fence post (nicely dented quarter panel) yet my stock bumper is still mint. Go figure.
Ditch the poser sliders before its too late. I had a set of Smitty Built nerf bars mounted to my '86. I figured I would wait to replace them after they took a beating. Problem was, by the time they were getting beat on, they were pushed into the body as well. Well, now i have bent up poser nerf bars and a damaged body. No more (well the '86 is toast anyway), my '99 has the real sliders now. Gota protect that body from the getgo. The only serious scratches I have on the beast is on the fender flares. While in Avalance park, the wife leaned into a tree, or maybe it was the ground guide (me), I don't know but they are seriously scratched.

Enter common problem #2, often known as "your spending money on what?" or "your spending more money on the truck?" and sometimes "you love the truck more than me!". There are other variants.

I woudln't have put 16" alloys on tryin to be cool.

I would have bought a black runner with sunroof / elocker / 4.10's

I would have gotten saws right away.

Ditto on the brush guard. Should have gotten a TJM or ARB instead.

Should have gotten sliders.

S/C, definitely a keeper

I need to hear more about this Gene since I am shopping for Bilsteins right now. If you can direct me to a thread or want to reply, please do.

Thanks!

Performance Mods

Are there any good preformance mods that would be recommended or mods that arent worth doing. I know the knfipk is not popular on this website, for obvious reasons. I also know the 3.0 is not a powerful motor, just wondering if anybody noticed nice gains from any perfomance mods.

For the 3.0, headers and electric fans would give it a few more gerbils under the hood.

Only problem is that will set you back about a grand for everything installed. More like $500 if you go with headers and Taurus fans and install everything yourself.

I noticed more torque if anything. I've put a lot into it, though... and I'm a firm believer that every mod contributes to it's overall performance. It also takes time to register with the computer, so keep that in mind. Check my website if you wanna know more.

I love my wife but she just can't make the connection between how she loves shopping and I hate it and how she hates me modding my truck and she hates it. Anybody else get this from the wife?

OH YEAH. Everything is "how much is it" and "you're not working on the 4Runner again, are you", and "how long is this going to take". BUT, then we get on the trail, and "this is fun" and "I really enjoyed this trip". Sheesh, its enough to get a guy

my girl knows better then to say anything. But I get the "if you don't stop working on the truck and start studying, I'm going to set the damn thing on fire" lecture from my folks all the time.
