What is this wire?

I have been unable to get my RS3000 alarm to function. As of now I would just like to have the red led light on when I hold down the green button. So I have spent the majority of today taking out the previous owners alarm system, which I figured was interfering. It was apparently put in by a blind man. What a mess! I think I have pulled out all of his junk and then I come to this set of wires and connector. I am not sure if it is Toyota OEM or another set of wires for the alarm. If anyone has the driver's side tore open like I do on a 96 4Rr and see if they have this bundle (red circled) or if I can remove it too. Thanks.

Oh and still no led light up. I bow to your superior knowledge yet again.

Thanks!

I'm a bit confused... I have a 3rd Gen, and it _had_ the RS3000 which I ripped out and replaced with an aftermarket after I sunk the truck.

When I did that, I played a bit with just which wires had to go. I remember the harness that you're pointing at as being part of the RS3000.

But.. What confuses me here is what you mean by "interferring". Is the old system an aftermarket? If so, then all the aftermarkets I've seen piggyback on top of the existing wiring, there's no "cutting and inserting" unless someone's installed an ignition relay.

I could see the RS3000 interferring with an aftermarket, but not the other way around.

Something else that may help... I found that the RS3000 won't doo anything (including going into programming mode) unless it's completely (all the harnesses) hooked up.

looks like it might be the remote start wire for the optional remote start but the pic is a little far away for me to make a distinction. I can barely see what you are pointing to. if you're going to link a thumbnail to a bigger pic you might as well link it to a huge high def pic, makes little things like this easier to see.

I am 95% sure the wire (should be bundle of wires) is from the old alarm. The funky thing was this bundle was spliced into from another bundle that I know was part of the old alarm. I doubt the alarm manufacturer specified that for installation. The installer was a nut ball. The old alarm was spliced into the RS system all over the place (piggybacking, as you call it, I assume). I have no idea if the old alarm ever worked. And am starting to have my doubts.

I found the installation directions online for the RS and it looks to be complete. Although the pdf file left something to be desired on the pictures. Is there a sneaky fuse somewhere? Looks like I'll have to dust of the multimeter.
