What wire is this?

Ok 98 4runner 3.4 automatic 4wd.

Doing belts and changing the oil filter today I noticed this wire was loose. It’s coming from a sensor? And looks like there was a previous repair. How hard is it to get to the wire in the harness so I can properly repair it? Purple wire leaving the sensor. I think it goes in to the ball of electrical tape. All in front of the oil filter.

Red face

well what if anything does not work??

Gauge not working? warning light on the dash??

Is the MIL on ??

If it is off any of the emission sensors you should have a code.

Maybe someone knows I would need to sit and hunt circuit by circuit

looks like a oil pressure sensor, or a low/no oil sensor. Dig into the harness and see if you can find the loose end.

^ That. It's going to the oil pressure sensor, for the idiot light. It won't have an effect on the engine, but you won't get the low oil pressure light.

Awesome. Thank you guys. I think I can see where it was “repaired”. Going to look further in to it.

Everything works great as is. So I will make sure and keep a eye on oil level till it’s fixed.
