What brand of CV joints are you using?
I may need to replace my CV joints pretty soon, but there are so many out there. What brands are good for the price and which ones should I stay away from?

I am thankfully still on my OEM, but if they go, I am going with NAPA. I have used them in my other cars and they are solid. Make sure to get brand new and not the remanufactured ones. They have a lifetime warranty, too.

Napa CV's are garbage, axleshaft broke before the cage, a pain to remove. I've broken an AutoZone shaft with my hands. Go to a salvage and pull some factory shafts, pay close attention to the boots and replace as needed.

Are you talking about brand new ones or the reman? I've never had issues with the new ones, but friends have had reman's snap.

Do you think your 315's and being lifted attributed to this? What's the difference in design from OEM Toyota's?

The shafts of the Toyota CV are hardened and are of better manufactured quality. If they break it won’t be as pictured above; no doubt they will outlast the aftermarkets. The 3.4 will produce enough power to snap a poorly manufactured CV in a tough situation. My thought on front lockers and larger tires affecting CV breakage is that they only take you farther to nastier places. Harder wheeling seems to break everything.

here ya go
step 1) go to dealer
step 2) go to partz counter
step 3) supply VIN
step 4) obtain proper CV and shaft
step 5) pay for them
will never have a problem with the above method. evar

step 5) go online and find the exact part for 60% of the dealers price
I used the advanced auto ones. They have made it through some pretty deep mud and some loooooose sand. I have no complaints yet, and I got the pair, with warranty, for less than $130. If they break, oh well, I get free new ones and spend an hour putting them in... no big deal.

My brand has this strange name stamped on the Box.
i think its called "Toyota" or something. It says something about Genuine Toyota Parts on the box....strange. They must be aftermarket Taiwan
Btw, all you buying those cheap Autozone china replacements.....goooood luck. The metal is soft and the quality is terrible. They break, much like Vermejo posted.
But boy oh boy, they sure are cheap!
