I have no idea what's on the front. They still stop well and pass inspection late last year. I've had the truck for nearly 60k miles and they have the same front brakes as when I bought it.

I'll put Performance Friction pads on the front when needed. I've used them on other vehicles and was impressed.

The rears are cheap autozone shoes and factory drums. The only reason I replaced those is due to a blown axle seal.

I've been running Wagner ThermoQuiet Ceramics for $32 a set (with the lifetime replacement guarantee) and OEM Rotors with rebuilt Bendix Calipers(I think) from AutoZone. They function beautifully.

I'm running Mintex right now. So far so good. I've run these on my watercooled VW's in the past and they've worked really well.

Ive run mitex on my bmw and been very happy with the stopping performance, much less happy with how much dust they create.

Akebono ceramics are great and incur very minimal brake dust to coat your wheels.

Yeah they are, and I picked them up cheaper than OEM.....also the brembo's were good and I got them cheaper than new stock rotors...

As far as brake dust on the wheels? I dont think I've cleaned my rims in 3 years

I have the cheapest pads money can buy. I paid $10 for them. Some Advance Auto silver pads. Seem to work good.

I had TRDs those were the best. Then I ran EBC, those suck. They lasted 3 months and dusted like crazy. Now I have Akebano Ceramics. These seem to work pretty well and don't dust too much.

All original (rotors and pads). I have 90 K on my 1996 4Runner 4x4. Works just fine and I do go off-road and also pull a 3000 Lbs boat in the summer time. I do not see how you can beat that OE setup.

I used the LC 1996 performance friction.
Pads were getting worn, and Autozone did not have the LC pads, so I bought the 4Runner spec Performance Friction pads. Way less stopping power. I took them back and put the old pads back on. I need to find the LC pads soon!

I wonder if all LC 1996 pads would be interchangeable with the 4Runner?

The PF's certainly have significantly more pad surface area for the LC over the 4Runner, but on the same backing plate.
