Is this a weird tire size for 4R? 255/70/16

When I bought my 96 4R 4WD, it had (still has)
16" wheels w/tires: 255/70
Looking around tire websites, this appears to be
an unusual size tire.
Just curious.
They're in great shape, but I was thinking of getting
some backup tires.

thanks

Standard size with 16" wheels is 265/70R16, so they're a little smaller, about 1/2" in diameter, or 1/4" less ground clearance. Also your speedo will be off by almost 2%, it'll read higher than actual speed. Maybe the previous owner saved a couple of bucks, or the tire he wanted didn't come in the correct size.

For that little difference if the tires are workng i would just use them until they need replaced.

Nope, it's a very common OEM size. Common on chevy trucks, common on wranglers. Never came on Yotas that I know of.
