weird clunkingO noise from the back?

On the way home tonight, all of a sudden I heard a loud "pshhee" noise like some sort of a pressure being released and then I started hearing clunking noise from the back. I havent had the chance to lift and look under, I will tomorrow daytime with better light hopefully, but just curious if anyone might have any ideas about what's causing it. I just replaced my exhaust hangers and check it and they were still on good so its not the exhaust and then again it wouldn't make that strange noise...anyway, any ideas? rear shocks maybe?

sounds kinda like your diff breather was clogged ???

it's on top of the rear diff (i believe, it is on everything else, idk about your 3rd gen though lol)

if it is, you'll likely see a little fluid on top of the axle housing lol

go ahead and research the diff breather mod and do that! unless you don't do much water crossings lol it's still a nice mod though

FIXED! It was the rear shock, passenger side. I've replaced them with KYB, both front and back, and the ride is great.
about that differential breather mod, even though i don't go swimming with my runner, i do live on the beach and we got some sand storms throughout the winter and i'm going to do that mod next. i've searched through and found a writeup about this mod and it said i needed 8ft of hose but is that really all i need though? seems to me i might need longer one than that. i think i'm gonna get about 10ft. or so and cut them if i need to. anyway, thanks for your help
