Weight of a 4Runner?

I'm trying to find the weight of my '99 4Runner SR5, but the owner's manual is of no help. I can't find the weight anywhere.

Anybody know of a source for the empty weight of 4Runners?

Thanks.

Mine weighed 4200 lbs with me in it before adding a bunch of off road mods and gear. Now, with a buddy along and all our camping gear, I just weighed it a month ago and it weighed 5200.

So, I guess the increase in the weight of your rig is directly proportional to the lightness of your wallet!

mine says the weight under the hood. lift up the hood, and look underneith, where the fire resistant material is..there should be a few different stickers on there that say rpms at different altitudes, and any retrofits done, as well as your weight of the vehicle ~KyLe

On my '01 4Runner the GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) is stated on the driver's side door opening. I believe it is around 4100 lbs or so.

how did you get it weighed? Did you go to a CAT truck stop or something? I'd be interested in getting an exact, well closer idea of what mine weighs.

I think it's closer to 4000 though.

That's why I like you guys ... you have ALL the answers!

I DID check on the door, I DID check under the hood -- nada. Zip.

I mainly wanted the weight info so I could decipher the Goodyear recommended tire pressure chart for my tires. However, it doesn't go up to 4,000 lbs GVW! Go figure.

So, I'll e-mail Mr. Goodyear himself and see how much air he thinks should go into my tires ...

do you maybe need to divide by 4 to get the weight per tire for their table?

GVW is more like 5200. the actual curb weight is about 3900. see my site: http://www.keisur.com/stockspecs.htm

you don't happened to have a link for the correct year tucked away in that favorites list do you? I think my numbers are right on for the 98's and 99's, I got them from Jalaber's site.

That doesn't sound right. A 3000GT VR4 weighs that much or more. My old talon AWD weighed about 3200 and some change. I'd say these 4runner's with the V6's weight well over 4000 lbs.

I gotta call bluff on those weights. I'm gonna go weigh my truck sometim in the next week or two down at the loading scales. I can't believe that they don't even weight 4,000 lbs.

remember those are weights of the vehicle with no mods and no people and no gas. That is added in with the Cargo Load that is in those tables, which then makes up the GVW. but how many people patrol around town with the vehicle fully laiden? I sure don't.

Well, Keisur, here in Oregon we can pull into any of the DOT truck scales on the highways if they are closed and they are always on, even when closed!

Then, when you are sitting by the little weigh house on the scales, you can look ahead and see your actual weight show up on a digital board. Kewl!

I may have to give that a shot next time I see a closed on here. not likely though since we're so close to the border, haha.

4Runner Weight

I weighed my 4Runner at the dragstrip last year.

It's a 2 WD, auto with the typical SC, headers 18" wheels, etc. If memory serves, it was 3750 without a driver and about 1/4 tank of gas.

I weighed mine and it was about 4150 lbs and it is an SR5.
I think ManyMods did his too and it was a 2001 LTD and it was 4310lbs !?
If you have a city dump that is a great place to weigh it.

that sounds about right for a 2wd. I'd guess about 4400 with driver, 4wd components and full tank.

The curb weight on a 1st gen DSM is just over 3120lbs (I got mine down to 3060 minus spare/tools and lighter wheels) and the 300GT VR4 is at 3780 unless you have the convertible Spyder which tips the scales at over 4100lbs.
