4runners weigh considerably more than 2 tons, there gross weight stock is 5250.... Start adding armor, tires, winch, and it all adds up

Fogrunner, your right it would result in damaging something. But if things are properly prior planned then piss poor performance will be prevented, which is what im trying to do. so do you have any worthy input on redesigning the mounts? or just stating the obvious which we all know, the frame will fail before bumper and or winch in a horrible situation.

goat, if i ever get in a situation that i think would be to much for the frame i would recover the truck then the trailer.

crolision, have you ever had your truck weighed, just out of curiosity?

As anyone who has seen my posts on things from 4runner A/C systems to the one on the VSC recalibration, I don't engage is sarcasm or beating someone's ideas down just for the fun of it. I think that its rude and counter productive.

That being said my point was you only have about a foot of frame stub in front of the radiator and front body mounts. There is only so much "beefing up" you can do with that frame stub and that was my point.

I think trying to build up the front frame rails to withstand a full 12K pull would take a MASSIVE amount of reenforcing that is well beyond the scope and abilities of most of us.

WYORUNNER how do you like the bumper? I am having the same guy make one for my 1998 tacoma. Can you post more pictures? Hopefully mine will look kind of like the shrockworks with a stinger like the armorology's. With his own taste of course!!!

Yeah some of the inside mounting points might help for the web engineering crew.

Evan, i love the bumper it will outlast the truck ten fold. Ill post more pictures tomorrow. Let him design a bumper that fits your truck, dont expect exactly like copyrighted bumpers, he doesnt want to infringe on someone elses designs. Which im happy he didnt, mine turned out great. He does great work at a very reasonable price. He did three things for me and is working on a fourth. He built me a lid for my trailer, front and rear bumpers with rear tire carrier and is currently working on a full length roof rack which i cant wait to get. Ill post pictures of everything tomorrow after i get off work. Front and rear... Stay Tuned!!!

Cool thank you. That bumper looks pretty solid. The rear bumper looks pretty nice as well. What are the bigger holes down low for on the front bumper? What are you doing about turn signals? How does the tire carrier hold the tire on? Thanks again,

-Evan

evan, the big holes (round ones) are for fog lights, the square ones are to be able to get a reciever pin through the front receiver hitch. the tire carrier holds on like a trailer hitch, with a hitch pin!! GREAT design.

Wyo, i was really pleased with the work he did. I dont have anything bad to say about the guy, it took a little longer than estimated, but as i look back, 4 months for 3 things is really quick. I got a really good price on everything which was also a great thing.

Pretty amazing what these guys charge. I could never justify spending that much.

Its a little understandable that those are so expensive. They take more steel and roadarmor is one of the few production companies so they can get it. I would never pay that.

What's sad, is the fact that lots of people pay that.

Ya I agree. Whats even more sad is the people who buy those never use them. More for looks and to show you've got money. My neighbor has a 2005 black Tacoma. Old man emu lift, arb bumper, winch, lights lots of goodies. He never takes the darn thing offroad. I'm like dude lets go wheel. But he would rather wash and wax his truck. I just laugh. If you can keep the colorado grime off your car for more than a day you never drive it you keep it in the garage. I dont even know if he has ever used his offroad lights. Don't buy it unless you are gonna use and abuse it...
