vsc,trac,abs lights are on

our 01 4runner limited decided there was not enough color in the in guage cluster and has now illuminated all three of these warning lights. they all came on the same time and i can get them to go away by switching it to 4wd and pressing the center diff lock then back to 2wd but within a couple seconds they all come on . this sucks, the only good part is the burnouts i have been doin around town....on a serious note has anyone ever had this happen before? oh yah and just to confirm the abs is not currently working .
thanks sean

Maybe check the brake flud, there is a sensor on the master that will disable everything if the level gets too low.

This happens to me every time I flip the switch for my AndyMod!

I would check your brake fluid level promptly.

Many different things can cause this to happen. Get the code pulled by someone with an OBDII code reader, and post up the results. The "AndyMod" that Andreas mentioned above cuts the signal from the master cylinder pressure sensor, and allows the driver direct control to generate the exact symptoms you describe to disable the traction control and skid control systems (except for it going back to normal temporarily when you switch to 4WD). The "Andymod" also disables the ABS.

Anyways, post up the codes, and we can go from there.

If the the brake fluid is fine the maybe another thing is to check whether ABS sensors are dirty. You can easily pull them at the axels, clean them with a cloth and see if the light goes away. This got rid of my ABS warning light

Ok I need some help here! I did this mod last year, have been under the dash countless time here and there to add and remove accessories. Today I was under the dash then put it back together and well ˟˟˟˟ the lights are on and no matter of switching and restarting can get them to go off WTF!!! I really need some help trouble shooting this issue because my Runner is my daily driver... any ideas other than the obvious?

I am not sure if my experiences with this warning light would translate to what you are experiencing since I have not yet done the andymod. However, about 20 days after purchasing my 2001 sr5 used from a dealership the VSC/etc lights came on and I took it back to the dealership where they replaced a gasket in the exhaust system. It was fine for about 2 weeks, then the dealership replaced the O2 sensor, about 1-2 weeks later they replaced the Catalytic Convertor. It has been fine for over a year now. Problems arrised at just over 70,000 miles. I have seen this question asked for similar milage 01 on other boards, but never any answers.

Aaron,
Are you saying that you did the "AndyMod"? If so, I would highly suggest that you double check all of your connections. I had a few issues when I first devised this mod and traced the problems to a sketchy connection I had made with a crimp-style connector. The connector actually broke the flimsy ground wire when I crimped it too tight.

Yes I have done the andy mod. And I used the crimp style connectors but everything was all well and good until today I guess I can just solder it. Ok keep up with the ideas. Is it possible I have accidentally damaged the unit it plugs into ? Say if by accident one of the ground wires from the andy mod touches hot for a milisecond?

Aaron,
I would consider carefully soldering the two connections by the reservoir. I can't see any further damage happening from loose connections, etc.

Ok I got up this morning and moved the truck so my wife could leave, and as soon as it went into gear the lights went off! I shook my head, anyway thanks again guys I will go ahead and solder the wire and then heat shrink them.

Soldering the wires with heat shrink is the best way to do the mod. I've had the same problem with my lights coming on at times too. I've noticed it mainly when the heater is on full blast. I think I've narrowed it down to the switch. Maybe it gets too hot?

As others have said, check the brake level first.
