VSC, CEL warning light reset

I'm going to replace the air fuel sensor in a friend's 02 4runner today. Will the VSC and CEL warning lights go off afterward or is there something I need to do to reset them?

On most older models, remove the efi fuse and the light will turn off. Not sure if it works on an '02. If that doesn't work, you may need a scanner. If the problem is fixed, the light will turn off on its own eventually, usually after the monitor runs and passes twice.

Removing efi fuse will work, for check engine light. VSC is probably a different circuit, you can disconnect the battery and reset both.

Correction...thrice(3x).

From the FSM...
If the malfunction does not reoccur in 3 trips, the MIL goes off but the DTCs remain recorded in the ECM memory.

MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp(just another name for the CEL)
