I hate to be the one guy, but honestly, the Vortex isnt loud or deep at all on my 2nd gen with the 3.0. It is loud during acceleceration but sounds more like a wet fart (not trying to put it down) then a V8. The only time that i really like it is when pulling into drivethrus. I have to admit it sounds purdy bad ass when standing right beside the tip and at RPMS only up to 2K but anymroe then that and it doesnt sound that great at all. Maybe I just have the wrong exhaust setup or something, but its not a V8 and its not loud enough to "set off car alarms" as some have said. I like it but it wasnt worth the money in my opinion. For those of you that are in love, what type of setup are yall running. I have a stock cat (not clogged or disfunctional), 2 1/4 pipe, Vortex, 2 1/4 pipe, and a cheapo walmart tip for now. Does this sound right?

I have this on my own truck and also heard it on Adam F's 2nd gen, and it still sounds great to me.

Here is a VIDEO CLIP. Adding a new tip like I did, also helps with the deepness.

I can get you any grille guard you want. Feel free to IM or email me.

Jason, I am interested in one of these, can you tell me exactly which Vortex he bought? Including inlet/outlet size and style.

Thanks I really would appreciate it and you may chalk up another order from me.

Thanks,

Chris

I'm with elton on this one, mostly because i have a 18" magnaflow.... It's not too loud, probalby quieter than the vortex, but I like the sound a lot. I'm only guessing based on sound clips. Just another option for people out there who don't want to go too loud

I think the tip can help make it even DEEPER. The trick I did was have the tubing stop at the beginning of the tip, allow for an even deeper sound.

Jason, I see just a tiny bit of dirt on those Hitch bolts...Whats up with that? J/K

So, just to clarify in my feeble mind... Your Tubing OUT connects to your Tip IN Vs. Tubing runs clear out to the rolled edge of your Tip...correct?

As Blake (neliconcept) said earlier, I do have the Vortex and love it. I have a 5" Decplate and the ISR mod, gives a nice rumble pretty much throughout the whole powerband, especially at the low RPM's

Hey, I have to agree with kyle on this one! I've had mine on for about 2 months now and it is way to loudddddd. It does sound good at idle, and at low rpm's but as soon as you hit second the loudness is retarded. I really got
taken on this one! It's pretty simple, if you want a throaty v8 sound get somethig else cause the vortex aint it!

sorry to disagree fellas, but it;s just my opinion.

I just want to say I've had this muffler on my own truck now for over 4 years! It sounds great, low low, deeeeep, throaty sound. There is also a video on the above link.

I had it on my 96 and it was awesome. Everybody said it sounded great. My cousin, who I sold the rig to, had it on there up until about a year ago when it rusted off.

I still have it on my 88 V6. Still sounds great. Honestly I'm surprised it's still on there and not rusting off. It doesn't sound as good as my 96 does, since the 3vze isn't as strong as the 5vzfe its not going to put out as much tone. Still sounds good though. When it does rust and fall off, I'll order another one from JB and get one with dual outputs, and run dual pipes out the back, through the rear fenders.

I agree. It's one of the best mods I ever did, and a cheap one at that.

I just got mine put on. It is much deeper than the Flowmaster 40 series I had. Not quite as loud, but you can still hear it about 200 yards away. But investment anyone could make in a muffler.

My buddy and I were eating at a Mexican joint last night, and suddenly he goes, "Hey Nate, I think you might wanna consider getting a new muffler. Yours isn't very throaty or deep. You might wanna look at a Super 40." I pretty much dis-reagrded everything he said becuase he's and idiot. However, being the anal sound guy I am, I wanna know what you guys think. I know the VORTEX is highly thought of, but what about the Super 40? Will it get deeper over time? PS - Keep in mind, this is the kid who wanted to run 2 single in dual out's so he could have 4 tips. The same guy who put a spoiler on his hardcover.
