Exclamation Vibration at highway speeds after lift.

Please dont get mad and post SEARCH ! I have. Everything seems to be different. This is anoying the piss out of me. Ive even thought of trading the 4runner off. Its so annoying. I NEED TO FIX THIS ! After I get my ome lift on I get a vibration. Ok it may be unbalanced. I go get them balanced, Still there.
Last night we got some snow and ice. Im driving and its kinda bad so I put it in awd and it seems to have gotten worse. Idk if this will help you or not. Please lmk what you think. Tomorrow im taking it to get it aligned and the tires balaned again.

One thing to think about is the driveshaft. I've heard of lots of driveshafts going out of balance after a lift. I'm not sure why, but it even happened to a family member - I told him it was tires, but I was wrong

check u joints as well as driveline angle may be a bit to much a tranny drop may be needed

Mine was pretty bad until I got an alignment, then it was fine. I hope that is all that it is.

Do you feel it in the steering wheel or in the whole truck? If its in the wheel you probably just need an alignment. If you feel it everywhere chances are its your driveshaft.

It is probably the CVs inducing vibration due to the increased operating angle. A diff drop might help.

X2, I've got my lift but haven't put it on yet. I'm waiting to buy the SS panhard bar.

Just found this in my Toyota repair manual.

Test for Driveshaft vibration:
1. Drive vehicle and note engine speed at which the vibration is the most pronounced. Now shift into another gear and bring the engine to the same speed (rpm).

2. If the vibration occurs at the same engine speed regardless of what gear the transmission is in, the driveshaft is NOT at fault.

3. If vibration decreases or is eliminated when shifted into another gear at the same engine speeds, refer to the following.

4.Bent or dented driveshaft. Inspect and replace as necessary.

5. Undercoating or built up dirt, etc. on the driveshaft. Clean shaft thoroughly.

6. Worn Universal joint bearings. Replace the U-joints or driveshaft as necessary.

7. Driveshaft and/or companion flange out of balance. Check for missing weights on the shaft. Remove driveshaft and reinstall 180 degrees from original position, then recheck. Have driveshaft balanced if problem persists.

8. Loose driveshaft mounting bolts/nuts.

9. Defective center bearing, if so equpped.

10. Worn transmission rear bushing.

Is it vibrating all the time?, if so maybe a ball joint issue. I have heard of people thinking their tire was unbalanced and it being a ball joint. Especially since you are running 285's, that puts considerably more strain on the front suspension setup than stock.

Maybe a wheel bearing, worn shock bushing, lug nuts that are not on right, loose mounted steering gear housing or loose steering components, or damaged idler arm. Those are if it is vibrating all the time no matter what the speed or gear. (can be better or worse dependent on speed)

I put the diff drop on when I got the lift. Its in the steering wheel then I can feel it in the whole truck too. Where would I get my driveshaft rebalanced and how much would that cost ?

OK, you say you have had it balanced. Do you mean you have gotten your tires balanced or you got a steering alignment?

Ive gotten the tires balanced and aligned. I havent gotten the driveshaft balanced. Where would I get that done. Do you think thats my problem ?

I'm assuming the vibration began with the installation of the lift? Then the problem is not going to be the driveshaft. How much additional front lift did you get from the OME stuff? Some photos of the CV joints would be beneficial so we can see how severe of an angle they are operating at.

I put the spacers in the front that came with the lift because im hoping to get a bumper.

What springs in the front? OME 880, 881, 882? What spacer? Lets get to some specifics first before you think its something crazy.
What springs in the rear? 906, 890, or 891.
Who put the lift on? You or a shop?

882 on the front and 891 on the rear. A buddy of mine put it on.

882's are pretty hardcore in the front for no bumper and winch. They really will keep the front fully extended and not allow for much travel under stock load.

Silly question but did you change your tires?

Have you inspected your CV's for tearing or grease loss?

Did you get an alignment? From a reputable place?

Did you ROTATE your tires? Not just balance.

Not the safest thing, but, on the highway with an open road, maybe try putting it into neutral and seeing if it stops.

I changed my tires to nittos Ive had them balanced and rotated more than once. Ive put it in neutral while driving and the vibration is still there. Ive also put it in 2nd and accelerated to the same speed where the vibration started and it was still there.

Could it be where I have the spacers up top and where the shocks are fully extended there vibrating together ? Maybe a front bumper would fix the problem..?
