A Very Different 4Runner...

Well I was checking out the latest 4Runners at www.Toyotaparts4u.com and came across a particular 4Runner pictured below. I like the paint job, and the body kit don't look too bad. Looks like he spent a lot of time and money on it. I'm not digging the wheels, hood, and rear bumper. Soooooooo what do you guys think?

it all depends on what your personal opinion is. from the side i love it. the hood in the front shot doesnt do anything for me, its ugly. its different though, i think he did a good job, nice choice on everything but i wouldnt mind seein' some tyres on there with a lift and bumper and other accesories..man its a 4runner! what isnt there too like! ~KyLe

Living in Canada I could make some extra coin plowing the streets this winter with that plow on the front.

That front reminds me of a Mazda Navajo.

I think the guys done good too. Although it isn't anywhere close to what I'd have done, I still think it looks good.

The front doesn't thrill me and I can't stand those huge 20-some-odd inch wheels with the '15 aspect ratio tires. I'll bet there's a "street name" for this setup, but I'll just call it...

Otherwise, it's not too bad. Like 02runner said, it's nothing close to what I'd do.

My late father in law had a saying that he was fond of, in Latin: "De Gustibus Non Est Disputandum" which means something like "in matters of taste, there can be no dispute." I guess it also means "Whatever floats yer boat."

That isn't my style. But, I gotta admit....for what he was going for, I think he did a pretty nice job with it. One of the cleaner, pimped out/lowered/whatever you want to call it jobs I have seen.

not me

IMO, i think a 4x4 SUV should NOT be lowered and have 20 inch wheels, that just defeats the purpose of a 4x4, but on the 2 wheel drive side, ive some that look real nice, just my opinion.

It looks pretty good, but the rims are too big. I really cant stand anything larger than 17" rims. Ive seen 20" rims on a new GMC I think, the new Dodge and on an older Caprice. Remindes me of a western movie and the horse and buggy wheels. I cant stand them.

But all in all, the runner looks good. It might look just a little too squared off here and there, but that might be due to the buggy wheels.

Take another look at it. Can anyone say "Cadillac Escalade"???? Add some gold badging and viola! Poor mans caddy. Much like the Opel GT was the poor mans Corvette. Another fine example of the deterioration of Toyota 4x4's. (and yes I realize it may be 4x2) Whats next, a 2 wheel drive Independent 4wheel suspension Landcruiser??? Bad enough the FJ100's are IFS. Ick

God forbid someone buys a 4runner, and not slap an ARB, lockers, and winch on it, and only drive it on unpaved roads.

You know he dumped more money into that, then what it would cost to buy a caddy. Anyone can go buy a caddy and slap 20's on it. But to take a "poor man's" truck and spend that much time, effort and money into it and have it come out looking nice, and not too overdone, should be aplauded. and if the guy chooses not to take it on the trail .. thats fine, that just leaves more room for me there.

Not trying to flame anyone or anything, just trying to get more then one view of how a 4runner should be on this board.

oh .. and I hate to admit this ... but I have alteezas on mine.

minus the hood (get a scoop) and different nice 5 spoke rims that runner would be nice. i saw a awhite one like that the other day here in denver with 19's that were black (lie the rice boys) with a new grill, lowered an inch probably tubstepas, and a grill guard. in the pearl white color it looked amazing

I actually like the color. I wish my white paint was pearlescent. i think it would look really good. Unfortunately, it would be too expensive and difficult to repair if I scratched it on the trail.

I don't care for the front bumper/grill setup, but I do agree with others who said that it is nicely done. It is clean, and fairly simple, which shows a lot more style than some gaudy over-the-top getup.

It isn't for me, but I don't hate it.

Yeah, people do express themselves in different ways but doing that to any 4WD truck is like shooting a gun with blanks in it or wielding a hunting knife that can only spread butter;you sort deem the "truck" part of the SUV useless and you're left with a big glorified station wagon IMO.

Also I just recently in the last 2 years noticed that they made 2wd 4Runners,you just don't see 'em here in Colorado (ok,maybe 1 or 2 ) and I couldn't imagine driving a 2wd "anySUV" in the snow.
