Valve cover washer seals

Hey, I just got done putting a new valve cover gasket on and new valve cover washer seals but the problem is I can't get the bolt to over pass the washer seal its flat even with it. Should I try and smash the washer seals down? I tried pounding the the gasket done but no luck. Also would it hurt to smash the washer seals in a vise?

Thanks,
Mario

Don't get what you mean. Will they slide onto the studs?

Ya they fit perfect but the bolt doesn't pass the washer so I can't get the nut on the bolt.

Thanks,
Mario

Hmmmm. How long are the studs? You should have plenty. Maybe your cover gasket needs to be pushed in a little more

Make sure the cover is fully seated to the head. The raised portion of the washer goes down into the hole of the cover. Don't smash the washers nor over tighten them that can cause the top of the rocker arms to hit the cover. They need to be tourqed to 52 in/lbs.

All else fails post a picture so we can see what the problem looks like.

Alright will try, also the cover isnt touching the head because of the new gasket in it, is there a way to smash it down so it is touching? I tried using a rubber mallet but that was no use at all.

Thanks,
Mario

What I meant was no large gaps betwwen the head and the cover. Don't smash it down.
Also try and seat the washers a little farther on the studs by turning them like you are screwing them down.
