V6 3.4L air filter dimensions

I'm thinking of replacing the cyclone-type air filter on my Surf with that of a 3rd gen 4Runner. That way, I can use the amsoil air filter.

I would appreciate it if anyone can give me the dimensions of the box of the air filter so I can check if it will fit in the available space under my hood.

Does the box-type air filter have a performance advantage over that of a cyclone-type air filter? The engine is a 3.0L intercooled turbodiesel.

Thanks a lot!!

Doesn't your 3rd gen have the same place up front for the air filter box?
Maybe they are made differently on the Hilux.

Are there any specific dims you need? I can tell you height, width, depth a little later todaywhen I get a chance to go measure.

just quick estimates of dimensions with a tape measure. If you need something more specific, someone who's pulled their box out can probably tell you. Hope this helps.

Very cool pic, how did you draw in the measurements like that?

MTL_4runner : The filter on the 3rd gen TDI Surfs is located on the left and it's a cyclone-type filter. Locating it at right would increase the intake air temp because it would be located close to the turbo.

Dexter : Yes, the hood scoop is functional, it's for the intercooler which is mounted atop the engine.
