**Urgent help needed - oil filter mangled trying to get it off**

same thing happened to me on the 1st oil change on a used car.
a regular metal type filter wrench would not work, only compressed it. the screwdriver tore it up the rest of the way with nothing left to grab, but would not budge it. i do not remember if there was anything inside the filter to grab with a wrench. i finally took a chisel and tapped it out counter clock wise on the oil filter mating surface.
