u joint replacement questions

so the annoying low speed squeak is coming from my rear driveshaft rear ujoint. took it too the stealer for a chassis lube (which i already did prior). they pretty much told me my rear ujoint is hooped, and the grease fitting on the slip yoke has sheared off thus not taking in any grease. they want $270 for the ujoint replacement and $100 too get a new fitting on

now ive read through here the the ujoints are pretty basic re&re. but looking through my manuals, it shows that there is a SST required to take out the bearings? did any of you that replaced this need one? or was a vise or channel lock pliers suffice? and where can i get these? all the parts site i see dont seem to have them listed?

and for my busted fitting on the slip yoke, is it easy enough to just drill it out, tap in some new threads and put a new one in? or would i be better off replacing it?

and finally, theoretically, how long can i go before it just ups and explodes? i really wanna go wheelin tomorrow, but im worried about the rear shaft. its been squeakin now for under a week, and i wanna fix it myself, but wont have the chance to get to it till next week when i put my tundra brakes in. am i risking it driving it as it is? the squeak is only noticable at low speeds from start to about 5mph. once i build up speed, it goes away...

think a half day of wheelin will be ok? thanks in advance
