Hi everyone, i just bought a 2001 sr5 2x4 yesterday and i am thinking about doing the tundra lift, you know, the one with the tundra coils in the front and LC coils in the back. Here are my questions:
1. I am been searching online for the tundra coils. How do i tell if the coils are TRD and not SR5's. The guys who is selling them told me they are the coils with the Bilstein shock option, is that TRD?
2. For the LC coils, can i only use FJ80's (90-97) or can i also use the FJ100's (98+)?
3. And finally, how high of a lift am i looking at when this is all set and done?

TRD Tundras have Yellow/Yellow+Blue/Yellow color codes. However, I've heard people using the other ones, there's only like a .5" difference. You may want to check also #1 I'm not sure this setup will work on a 2X4. #2 OME890/891's are another option to the LC coils with the Tundra setup. #3 Make sure you get the right year of LC coils. Some years are taller than others. Seach, and you should be able to find the answers to all this stuff.

 

Ok, first. Tundra are either TRD or nothing. There aren't SR5 coils. Go to www.trdparts4u.com and click on the replacement parts link. The coil numbers are Driver Side, 48131-AF100 (Yellow/Yellow). Passenger Side, 48131-AF090 (Blue/Yellow). Yes, you can get them with the Bilstein shock option but look at this. That is possibly the most useful thread for this lift. The LC coils you want are the ones from the 95 models. YOU WANT THE FRONT COILS OFF THE LANDCRUISER FROM YEAR 1995. Those will yeild about 3.5" with NO CONES in the rear. Yes, the front coils from an Landcruiser will fit in the rear of a 4Runner. My Tundra's yielded me 1.5" up front. You can go to Sonoran Steel and get a set of 3/8" topout spacers to give an extra 1/2" of front lift. Remember to get a differential drop, and extended studs. And feel free to give Steve from Sonoran Steel a call, he's a great guy and will take time to answer any questions you have.

There are "non" TRD Toyota Tundra coils. There's a bunch of threads of people just throwing on the wrong ToyotaTundra coils and not getting enough lift. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/1...rd-lift-75724/

 

Preferrably TRD 4x4. The "non" TRD 4x4's aren't a progressive spring. And TRD 4x2's will give about a 1/2" less lift than the TRD 4x4's.

 

If you want to make sure you have the right parts buy the kit that has been tried and tested: Sonoran Steel Lift Kits (for your 2WD pay particular attention to kit #3.0).
