Tundra 199mm Front Disc Upgrade Success

Replaced my stock warped 1997 4runner front discs with the stock 2002 Tundra 199mm front disc, pads and calipers. Wow, what a huge improvement. No more rattle, shake just really firm positive braking like it should be. I opted for the 199mm to keep from having to do any grinding. The whole thing was a direct bolt in with my stock 16 inch alloys. So much more enjoyable to drive now. This forum was a huge help

Glad to hear! A few things I'm wondering however.
Did you buy all of the parts new or used and what was the cost

Good deal man. I'm finishing up my 231mm upgrade this weekend.

Blown, I work for a repair shop and bought Brembo blanks, Akebono pads, Advance Auto calipers and StopTech braided brake hoses for the front. With those parts I'm right about $300.
I also replaced a passenger front wheel bearing and both upper ball joints since everything was apart.

Purchased the brembo rotors and calipers from amazon. No core needed for the calipers! The pads I got locally.

2 of Brembo 25534 Front Disc Brake Rotor $109.00

Raybestos FRC11039 & FRC11040 Professional Grade Remanufactured Semi-Loaded Disc Brake Caliper $177.00

Pads were $30.00 from napa

Shipping included (some were shipped free)

Is it true in order to clear the 231mm calipers that you need to run on 17" rims only? I have 17" tundra wheels already but my winter set of wheels are 16".

No, 16" or bigger. I have LC80 wheels with a 1" spacer to clear the calipers. I could probably get away with a 1/2" spacer but you don't HAVE to run 17" wheels at all.
