Well, I got the engine (3.0) back in my 90. Got MOST all the hoses and connectors hooked back together. However, the engine won't turn over. I know it will, because I can do it by hand. I had the battery charger on the battery for quite some time and it still doesn't budge it a bit. Lights are bright and all too. I even hit the key while the lights were on and it didn't dim them all that much. I know it's not the typical starter contacts gone bad, as I've had that happen, and that's just a light click. This is like a very weak battery, and you can hear the voltage. You hear a click, and can hear that there's a little bit of force behind it, but it won't budge it. Is there some sort of electrical connection I may be forgetting. I hooked up the positive and negative cables on the starter and remembered to ground the battery cables when I put them back on. Just curious if anyone else has had this happen.

Also, where in the heck to the two hoses that run from the bottom (some sort of sensor) of the power steering pump lead to. I haven't hooked these up because I have no idea.

More questions on what goes where will follow, you can rest assured.

Try bypassing the battery - give it a jump. Just make sure you do it the proper way (ie hook up the negative lead to the chassis, rather than to the negative terminal on the bad car, and make sure the car giving the jump is running before you attempt to start the dead one). That will ensure that 14.4 V is going to all the necessary places.

If the starter solenoid still only 'clicks', then pull out the starter and give it 12V (your battery charger may be able to supply 12V, unless it's a trickle charger). The starter motor should spin; if it doesn't, then you've got a bad starter.

If the only problem is that the starter isn't turning over, it shouldn't be too hard to diagnose. There isn't much complexity in that circuit. Most probable causes of failure are battery, solenoid, starter motor, relay, fuse, the ignition switch, and finally, the wiring.
