I just picked up a 4runner 3.4L V6 with a TRD supercharger. This is the first forced induction vehicle i have owned. Can anyone tell me what a supercharged engine sounds like? Today my brother was driving behind me and said he heard a high pitched sound when i stepped on the gas. He said it was pretty loud. So i went home and had my girlfriend drive my truck and i followed behind her. To me it kinda sounds like a lound sucking sound. LOL. But im not sure. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

First, did it come with a K&N filter? I noticed a little sound difference when I put one on my S/C 4runner. Secondly, the "gear drive" sound would most likely be the supercharger; it gives off a whine just to let you know it's there (especially around 6lbs of boost).
May I suggest adding a boost gauge to your new 4runner? It pretty handy and may help you get a grip on your horrendous fuel consumption.
