TRD and SR5 Packages?

I'm in the market for a 01-04 Tacoma, but I'm unsure what the packages actually offer. From what I've read, the SR5 is a basic package found on most vehicles and the TRD is a suspension package. What is the easiest way to tell if a truck has either package on it? Thanks!

The main advantage of the TRD package is the rear diff locker. So look for a rear locker on the 3rd or a switch on the dash.

TRD also has different shocks, but really won't make any difference with an older truck, since they'll probably need replacment anyway. Don't go by the sticker alone, since some dealerships have been known to put "TRD" stickers on non-TRD trucks.

Also, SR5 was standard and there was also a Limited trim, which has some aesthic differences (sunroof, color-keyed trim, etc.).

BTW, you could probably just lump all of your Tacoma questions into one thread if you want.

Thanks guys! My dad has an 02 Tundra v6 with TRD package and I love the way it drives/rides. I'm hoping for something similar in the Tacomas I'm looking at. I've seen several one's with the sticker but wasn't sure if they were truly TRD's or not. I'll have to look at some pics to see if they have the switch for the rear diff lock. I appreciate the input, and this should answer all the questions I have, except where to find the money to buy one.

Go to the Tacoma section of the Toyota pressroom site:

http://pressroom.toyota.com/search?s...riteria=Tacoma

... and scroll through until you come to the 2001 - 2004 specifications and options documentation ...
