So, I was browsing the internet trying to find out transmission VIN codes to no prevail. I am on a government computer,so some sites are blocked. I was wondering if anyone knew which digit on the VIN belonged to the transmission model. And, if anyone had an available list of which transmisions belonged to which digit.


I have a '99 Tacoma, and am trying to figure out the exact model I have (5spd manual w/ a 2.7L). I am trying to do some minor upgrades but need to know what I have obviously.

 

It's not part of the VIN. There should be a sticker on the driver's door with the vehicle information. Which includes the model, color, trim, axle, and transmission codes.

But, in case you can't find it, it's got a W59 transmission.
