alright, the tranny died in my '98 runner v6 auto limmited. Now ive got a 96 T100 3.4 auto, a '93 T100 3.0 auto, and a 94 runner v6 man. sitting around in my back yard. I don't wanna to pull the tranny on the 96 T100 cause its a "work in progress" leaving me two possible tranny's. I need to get on the road asap. will the transmission from the 93 t100 be a fit? If it has three cylenoids and my runner has four(which i understand it does) is that still plug n play for my ecm? Ive read again and again that the 3.4 trannys are better than the 3.0's but haven't found why. Does it work? if not what makes it work? Or am i better off to go to the wreckers and find an exact match? Anything helps. Thnx

 

i think you will need to find a matching trans.

the 3.0 trans will bolt up but the ecu wont support it i think.
you can check with a salvage yard to find out what year trans will work.

 

Thanks donomite49 I've got my local wreckers lookin around for me. I would like to know what id have to do to get that 3.0's tranny to work so i could determine if its worth the work. Im pretty savy till it comes down to computers and wires. If you've got a friend who would know the complexities of compatibility for sure please let me know.

click on the tech and fab section, it will take you to the engine swap forum.

Hi guys sry im very new to yota tech. But I have been looking at buying a 97 t100 with the automatic transmission which is the only part I dont like and have a 95 toyota 4runner with manual I was going to sell. Anyway what I was wondering is if I could switch the 2 transmissions w/o too many headaches
