Transmission Overheating?

Transmission Overheating?
Has anyone ever taken off the heat shield next to the automatic transmission? Mine was rattling so bad so I put on two large hose clamps but that made it worse. I took it off last night and the noise is gone but will it overheat the transmission without the heat shield?
