Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I need to replace the transfer case in my 98 V6 4Runner. From what I've read it seems like I have to remove the entire transmission, which isn't exactly something I want to try myself.

Does anyone know of any reputable shops in the Toronto area? I obivously don't want to get ripped off by the dealership, and would rather support a smaller local shop.

Otherwise, does anyone know if you really do need to remove the tranny? I'm sure I could handle it myself if that didn't have to be done. I've done a clutch before, but I worry about all the extra connections and lines of an automatic. Thanks!

 

There are plenty of transmission shops in the GTA, if u look in the yellow book. You can probably pull it off since you already changed the the clutch and other stuff. The "Car Bible" (repair manual) can be a great help.
