Trans interchange?

Can anyone tell me what years of auto tranny's I can use in my '01 Taco?

From what I've found, the 01-02 models are different from the older models, and the 03-04's, as well. I can see why the newer ones won't work, since they're electronic instead of cable, but what about the older models?

BTW all the info you guys need has been asked and answered a few hundred times, on this forum and others......

I can point you in the right direction, but google will be your best friend.

I have searched, seriously. Even called a couple of places. No one has given me a definite answer. Mines is for a 3.4 engine that's going into a 93 xcab 2wd auto p/up

Is it going to stay 2wd?

3.4L options are
R150 5 speed 2wd
R150F 5 speed 4wd
A340E 4 speed auto 2wd (I believe)
A340F 4 speed auto 4wd

Weather or not there are others, I'm not sure right off hand.....this is off the top of my head.

Edit:
Just found this thread too, didn't read it.....

I don't know for sure, but within the same between 1st gen taco (95.5-04) and 3rd gen 4runner (96-02) they should be the same.....maybe minor differences.

Don't know if the driveline will the correct length either.
