Trailer wire kit 95 tacoma

Has anyone put a hitch and wires for their Tacoma? I just bought a hidden hitch and wires and I was wondering about doing the wires for my truck to the trailer.

thanks

I have not done it on a Tacoma, but I put a kit on my '87 4x4 pickup. The kit I had was easy to install. Plug the connector for the trailer lighting plug between the tail light harness. There is one for each side. Wiring it without a custom fit kit is more complicated, but not too difficult. The color coding should be on the box. If you install a non custom harness, use the black splicers with bullet connectors instead of the blue ones. I have heard that those will last longer.

i bought a kit made for tacomas at walmart, it was simple, just remover the back light covers, remove the wiring harness plug the light stuff in between the stock harness and find a ground, EXTREMLEY easy, and for 15 bucks i couldnt beat the deal.

I just replaced the wire harness on my 99 Tacoma - there's a TSB out on the old one so I got mine replaced for free. Its very straight forward. The old one spliced in from the tail light housing. The new unit though connects inline from a connection under the driver's seat and the converter box resides in the cabin under the driver's side jump seat to keep it safe from the elements. The wire from the box is then routed through a grommet in the back of the cab (the Toyota kit comes with a new grommet with the wires prefed and wrapped through) and you run the harness along the frame rails to the back end. It's a nice setup - much nicer than the old setup.

I too have a hidden hitch and love it. I recommend the Toyota wire kit.
