Trailer Light Converter- $CHEAP$
#1
After discovering that my factory trailer lights didn't work I went ahead and checked out the converter box. Sure enough my factory converter was shot! So I went to my local parts plus store and picked up the cheapest converter I could get ($17 after tax). The unit was a Rigid converter that converts the truck to standard. It had 5 wires going in and 4 out. I simply tested all 5 wires and spliced it into the existing wires (cut off the old harness) that were in the truck. It worked perfect.
I had noticed that others were saying that you had to get a unit made for a 4runner($40) however this way is a much cheaper alternative!!

i went with the isolator box, because there's no easy other way to do it like a domestic truck.
last summer my dad's grand cherokee isolator box burned out...he bought a new one from u-haul for 80 bucks and kept the old one. i took a look at it, you should've seen the look on his face when i told him i could fix it for $15
