Toytec vs. ss lifts

Either is a good option, but the SS systems are specifically designed for trail performance. Avoid the Toytec coil spring spacer kits. Spacers just aren't a good long term solution. Their coil lift kits will be fine though.

i just put in the SS #1 kit with the cruiser coils and everything else he has for the rear in my 2000 4runner, and put some sway a way's 2.5" in the front along with some 285's and ill tell you what - its the nicest darn riding 4runner i have. Im going to switch the other 3's rear suspension to his - the ride is sooo smooth, yet tight - hard to explain but its hands down the best rear lift for any 4runner.

I'm thinking my shocks and springs may be getting weak so I was researching the SS lifts... For the 1.2 it states: "At a bare minimum, if you have a stock rear bumper, you need to have at least a Class III trailer hitch installed with the complete stock rear bumper along with a set of functional rock sliders. "
Why do we "have" to have that? It's not a big deal, I have the hitch, and the bumper and the sliders are fairly cheap. But what's with the lift that need the hitch and the sliders? Or am I just misreading it?

The LC's are not stiff springs. The reason they call for the additional weight in the rear is to "tame" the amount of lift you'll get from them. Without the hitch and some extra weight in the rear, expect ~4.5" from the LC's. Mine have settled from 4.25" to about 3.75 now...and that's after a year of use and abuse.
You'll find that the LC's are one of the softest riding and best articulating springs you can put on your Runner. The OME's on the other hand are very stiff!

ome's are stiff. never ridden in an SS lift, but my friend had an '00 with the downey coilover kit with billies. it was quite plush...very nice ride....id say about as plush as stock with a touch firmer dampening to it..

Hmmmmm, I still have the original OEM springs from my FZJ80, I was thinking they would give me more lift and stiffer then I wanted, but since they are already broken in, I may have to give them a shot ...... so if those are out back, whats a good pairing to them up front?

Took at look at the Toy Tec lift--i wouldnt go that direction. Do it right the first time and be pleased instead of seeing me out there wheeling and asking you WHATS WRONG?
No just kidding--but do it right and it wont regret it. I cant tell you how many times i purchased a cheaper this or that and ended going back for the more expensive this or that.
