Toyota Certified Vehicles

Just can't say enough about Toyota Certified Vehicles.
Toyota does a great job in going over and repairing any big or little thing.
My '99 Pre Runner had new belts, hoses, brakes, battery, plugs, filters, tires etc.
This with a vehicle with 37000 miles.
Also was given a CarFax.
The only thing I could find to do was change my trans fluid.Although they might have changed that too.
I also had a set of Bilstiens installed.
100000 mile warranty.

I'm probably going to sell my '99 and get a '04 or '05 because I miss 4WD.
A deal for an '04 fell through last month.
That Toyota dealer changed the numbers on my '99 when the '04 came in.
Hate to give her up though.
She runs great.

Anyone wondering about buying a Certified vehicle do it!
It's worth the extra money.

Bad dealer.
I had one too with a '04 purchase try.
But my '99 is solid.

The dealer I had a problem with wouldn't give me my $1000 deposit back.
I was a bit pissed with Toyota HQ's.
They told me each dealer is an independent dealer.
All they could do was get Client Relations to talk with them but no guarantee of the dealer returning my deposit.
I finally did get my deposit back...4 weeks later!

So Toyota is only as good as their dealer is.

"But my '99 is solid."

Congratulations on getting the only one which doesn't have warped brake rotors, leaking axle seals, LYING fuel gauge, MAF sensor which throws the CEL every few months, etc...

I've also tried Toyota National Customer Service, with the result being the more colorful definition of 'Service.'

"So Toyota is only as good as their dealer is."

The dealers here (both owned by the Larry H. Miller conglomerate) are pathetic. So what does that make Toyota?

There was a report on one of the weekly news shows that reported on used cars. The lead example was a story about a women that was killed in a auto accident. Her car was purchased as a certified used car.It had in fact been totalled in another state and resold to HER DEALER who then certified it as perfect. In fact her airbags had been blown when it was totalled AND THEY WERE NEVER REPLACED. She died because of it!
The police stated that she doubtless would have survived had her "certified" cars airbags deployed.
Caveat emptor

certified vehicle programs, when properly implemented, is almost always going to be safer than say, a private party sale.

having worked in toyota's certified used vehicle program, there are dealers who implement it very well and those that do not.

they do spend quite a bit of money training their participating dealerships on the "right way" to do things. that said, there are always going to be occassional incidents where there is blatant fraud or negligence. butr i can tell you from experience that there was probably one incident when i was there.
