Took the door off my 3rd gen.
Well, finally gut the runner back in action. I had to change a CV, and I really only worked on it for a few hours a week. (Yes, it took me that long, I've never done one before, and I had to wait for parts.). But, finally finished yesterday, so I decided to pull off my driver's side door, and cruise around. The door is easy enough to come off. All of the electronics unplug on the inside, and then there are 5 bolts, 4 for the hinges, and one for a plastic thing. Fairly easy, just get a buddy to hold the door for you once it's off, it is pretty heavy.
Also, before you unplug all the electronics, make sure you don't have any windows down that you don't want down. The window switches on the other doors will not work, neither will the power locks.
Ohh, and the usual. This is not a good idea, you could be ejected from the vehicle in an accident, I would not reccomned riding around with no door. Also, it is illegal in the people's republic of New Jersey, and probably not a good idea anywhere else. Also, don't smoke, yes that is a cigarette in the 2nd pic, but it's not lit.
Let me know what you think.

Looks good! You're right it is more dangerous. But keep in mind it's still way safer than a motorcycle (not to knock the bike guys, I used to have one myself). I think all vehicles look better and are more fun without doors. you should make them "quick release" to make your life easier when it rains or gets too cold. Have you considered some custom tube doors? That's usually cheaper/ lighter/ more fun than a half door.

i think it looks good! my buddy is running door-less in his 2nd gen and it make such a difference when wheeling to be able to see outside. and with 4 bolts and 3 wire harnesses at most to remove its not that hard. is it just the drivers door remvoed or is pass. side done too

It looks cool, but I wouldn't want to drive around with it like that.

I think when you unplug the wires that go to the door, it will also unplug the dome light on the newer vehicles. However, I am not positive with the Toyotas, that is just experience from other ones.
