what kind of truck bed spray did you coat the bumper with? it looks good. i'm considering doing the same thing once i get a tjm bumper. and how much did it cost

It was Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating (about $6.50/rattle can at Walwart or Autozone) it is very flat so I top coated it with SEM Chip Guard in satin black. The SEM Chip Guard also comes in clear but I had a problem with the clear turning milky as it went on. No problem though with the black. The SEM product is a specialty auto paint for rocker panels and high abrasion areas on cars. It is about $12 for a can and you can find it at auto painting supply stores. It has a slight texture to it but not nearly as much as the Truck Bed coating. Practice first on some scrap metal to make sure you can get to look you want. I practiced on my skid plate first as it needed painting anyway. My skid plate now has about a 1/8 inch coating on it. Total I spent about $70 on paint for the bumper and the skid plate, but I think I put too much on. If I was to do it again I would go thinner on the Truck Bed Coating, as it is very hard to get an even texture the thicker you put it on.
The Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating is also available in quart and gal sizes and I tried running it though a regular spray gun with pretty good results. The stuff is very hard to clean out of the spray gun though.

Well, I have an ARB on the way. It supposedly shipped on Monday by Truck from Central 4WD along with a pair of Hella 500s. No charge for shipping which can be a killer for bumpers.
They didn't provide any kind of tracking with the shipping conformation so I'll give them a call tomorrow.
Now I need to get an angle grinder to cut the plate off the ends of the frame rails on my 02 Runner.
And dexter will get his "Fat Lip Bumper"...

I think you made a good choice. I just installed an ARB on a 2nd Gen runner yesterday and I was very impressed with the bumper. The mount is very strong, we used 16 bolts between the frame and factory bumper mounts. The powder coat was very nice and durable too.

Ya, I looked at both TJMs and ARBs and the ARB is really stout. I found some Runners and Tacomas at work with both types. Even a couple with the Aluminum TJMs.

And yes, the powder coat on mine is holding up great.

get the ARB! its absolutely sick looking! and it is in such good shape and its USED! it looks brand new, and the only ppl that know its used are me and Mt_Goat. and about the comments on Mt_Goat starting a side business...first of all, he is a really nice guy, great carrisma and a huge amount of knowledge on this stuff, second i think he has more tools in his garage than i have pieces of notebook paper, and third, he does amazing work and is very meticulous about doing it right. i cant say enough about him or the work that he helped me with, which only included mounting a bumper. incredible. we should just start a thread titled, 'How great Mt_Goat Is!' ~KyLe and back to the main subject, i was very leary at first when i was lookin at the used pictures, and when i got there, i couldnt have been happier, i dont regret spending the money at all now.

I don't know how good my one armed bench press is these days....LOL
I'm going to start Taking off the stock bumper early Saturday or maybe friday night so if your free Saturday morning I could use a hand.
