Timing OFF?

i fixed a leak on my oil pump and i put the parts back on and put the timing belt on and set it to TDC and put the distributor in and it runs really weak..
should i take the distributor out most of the way and turn the rotor one notch a certain way?

Check the timing with a timing light and make sure it is right. If it is way off and you cannot turn the distributor enough, you will need to remove it and put it back after moving it a notch like you were saying.
