Timing Belt

I am changing the belt on my 99 4runner w/3.4 I have everything apart & started to put it back together but I can't get the belt on. I have the compression tool that I used w/ pin but it seems like the belt is to short! Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Wrong belt maybe? It wouldn't surprise me at all especially if you get it from any other place than a stealership.

NO! You have to line up the belt at the bottom crank pulley first, take off the top idler pulley, line up the 3 lines (Crank pulley, 2 top camshaft pulleys, then, put the top idler pulley on. I did the same thing, got all pissed off, then realized my mistakes!! I would almost gaurantee that is your ptob. Good luck!!
