timing

No way to check the timing w/o scanner,no way to adjust it w/o some kind of interface/piggy back interface,ecu...
The question is why do you want to know where the timing is? pinging? performance issue?....or just curious, most Toyota engins run about 5-10 degrees BTDC,fyi

ok...for some reason now, it wont stay running....it falls on its face everytime, unless i give it gas...i hooked up a timing gun the other day to check the timing and from what i observed, when engine was warm and idle was normal, but barely stayin runnin, the timin showed at 15-20....with that, i think i might be off 1 toothe, but im not sure, guess thats why im on here lol...

First and easiest thing to do is clean your MAF and throttle body, especially the IAC(hole on bottom of throttle body just before the butterfly),then plugs...if its still not running right after that the timing could have jumped, rare but it does happen, pull top timing cover...turn crank to 0* check cam marks...if timing did jump it will be obvious.

did all that...pulled cover off and marks are good, but i found a hose after everything was put together..i didnt take any hoses off either, so now im lost as to where it goes...it looks like a vacum line of some sort, ill post it after this....it was found on ground when assemblyin the engine!!! jus gotta scale the pic size down to upload..will do that later today, no time right now..thanx though
