Throttle Positioning Sensor

I have a 1997 2.7 Tacoma. I believe my TPS is going bad. Here is the symptoms: When driving the truck periodically falls on its face, kinda stalls for just a second and then picks right back up. It does this on cruise control at all different speeds. I notice it most during highway driving and was wanting to re-confirm what I already thought is going on...anybody else believe it's my TPS going bad? What were your symptoms before you realized you needed to replace that throttle positioning sensor?

I had this happen before on a previous Toyota. Exactly the same, some problems with steady driving and less with stop/go. Turned out it was a VERY dirty fuel filter. I imagine that some crud was blocking the flow of fuel. Replaced it and no more problem. Just a thought.

When mine went out it caused a low end stutter. I would step on the gas and it would cough for a second, then go. During this time it was impossible to adjust the timing properly. I replaced it and everything seems to be working properly again. The best deal I could find for a new one was at the stealership, believe it or not. $100.
