I am purchasing a new throttle body for my 1996 Tacoma as mine is worn out.

It looks like you can order an a/t or m/t throttle body. I was unaware that there was any differences?

Is every 5VZFE throttle body the same for the same year?

If I remember right the m/t has a dash pot on it and the a/t doesn't.

 

That's interesting. My stock 5sp TB has the dashpot, but also has the empty third cable wheel for the A/T kickdown which is obviously not needed.

haha.. unfortunately my butterfly valve has a gap from the cylinder bore allowing extra air thru increasing my idle. Yep I guess metal on metal does wear out eventually even if it is yota!

 

guess it's time to rebuild, bore it and get a bigger flapper... =D

 

thats an interesting idea. idk about the 3.4s, but on my 3.0 TB theres an idle adjustment scew. maybe you could turn yours down and save some $money$

 

I made the mistake of cleaning my TB, which caused it to idle high.

I fixed it by filling the gap in my throttle body with high temp silicone.

 

turbo8 sometimes the high idle after tb cleaning is caused by all the junk and cleaner running down into your IAC which is underneith the TB. Thanks for the high temp silicone tip. Do you see any problem with the silicone wearing off and going in to the engine?

I am getting another TB from the wreck yard for $60. Hopefully that should fix it.

 

I tried all the tricks to fix it, including a new IAC. Silicone can't be worse than the gunk build up that was already in there.
