Thermostat

When i run my rig the temp. gauge warms up and keeps on goin all the way up until its almost redlining. Eventually it'll drop when the thermostat opens up. Do i need a new thermostat? Thanks.

Sounds like its a bit sticky to me. That would be what I would do. Replace the T stat.

I would defintately replace the t-stat, but also make sure that you don't have any air pockets in the system, and that the clutch fan is running appropriately.

Is this the 22RE 4 cyl motor? This has happened to several people before. Toyota made a new two stage t-stat for that motor to correct it. Its more expensive than a normal one though. Others, including myself, simply drill a small hole or two in the thermostat to allow hot water to get to the other side and open it up before the needle gets into the red. In my case it fixed it. I drilled 2 holes sized 3/16" opposite each other.
