Guys,

I wish I had my digicam w/ me...

In anycase, I have a tear in the vinyl/plastic trim of the front passenger side door panel. Not the fabric, but the hard plastic/vinyl. It is about 2 inches long.

Does that crap on TV work for something like this? You know what I'm talking about: Where some guy takes a knife, stabs the couch, spreads on the "magic goo", irons it, and voila!

Anyone know what works?

NO!!! It doesn't work!! Our local News Network picks a product each week and performs on camera tests to determine "Does It Work?"......they tested the couch stabbing junk and it FAILED miserably. It ended up being a gooey mess on a nice blue leather couch. My suggestion is to go to your dealer and ask them who they use to fix these types of things. I have used a group in Memphis called "Mobile Trim Team' that has a fleet of vans that go to the different dealerships to fix seat tears, cracked dashes, and re-dye seats. I'm sure that your dealer will have somebody similar.

Put largest managable piece of duct tape carefully behind the tear, then pull the edges together and press onto the tape. Not the best, but the best bang for the buck.

Thanks for the reply. I suspected as much. I once tried that GS27 stuff and it was crap. However in regards to the goo stuff, I always wanted to be the couch stabber guy.

Dajabr: Good thought! However, I think it might be too difficult to get into that tight space. I might be able to remove the door panel and do it from the inside however.

It would be easier to take the door panel off, but only if you can get directly to it from behind, if it's got the foam stuffing and cardboard backing, might have to buy a new panel if coming from behind rips it all up.

Yeah, it's a bitch to get the tape in there, use smallest piece possible that will still overlap the edges enough to hold, sit down and make 4 or 5 as they'll get messed up a few times before you get it right. I felt that double sided would be better to hold it in place , but couldn't finds any that was double sided and not wimpy... If you're careful you could do a 2 cm wide piece, 2 cms longer than your tear, making a good 1cm overlap on all sides...
