Taurus electric fan question

Hey all,

I just installed the Taurus electric fan and it is working sweet! Thanks to everyone for the help on the forum getting it working correctly. I put a red led in my dash which has been very helpful getting the adjustable contoller working correctly.

Is there any maintenance or lubrication to be done to the fan? It is working fine, just wondering if we need to do anything to it upkeep wise to keep it working OK?

Thanks!

Fan Mod

Cool doing mine next week.

Any advise on the wires?

Also what size nut washers did you use on the bolts?

Did you change your thermostat>?

I read the post today any specifics would be great.

Notice any differance?

Thanks

Great to hear that the Taurus Fan is working for you. As far as upkeep, just try to avoid driving through deep water when the fan is running. Other than that, it is maintenance free until the motor brushes wear out, but considering how old my fan is, I am not worried about that. I have a spare Taurus Fan if necessary. I think that I covered pretty much everything in my writeup.

Hey lbb-1,

I used 2 washers on each stud and the original nut that was holding on the stock fan. Not sure exactly what size though? I took one nut off and then happened to have a bolt in my jar that was same size. So, I put the nut back on the fan, then took the bolt with me and found washers that slid over it at the hardware store.

The first thing you'll notice is it so much quiter when you start your truck. I kept the same thermostat in the truck and adjusted the controller to work correctly. I mounted the controller between the battery and headlight assy.

I would def. add the led to see when it is on. Helps to be sure all is working correctly. I used the add-a-fuse thing referred to in other write-ups here and it works great. I have my radar detector and the fan contoller turn on wire both connected to it so both come on with ignition. I only wired up the low speed which so far has been more than enough air. And, I can't comment on mileage yet, as I'm still on first tank of gas. Performance gains are minimal, but hopefully mileage (and the cheap price of this mod) will make up for it. It is kind of nice to think of driving and knowing your engine is not turning an added burden of the stock fan when it is not needed.

Hope this helps.

Chris
