tapping map lights into dome light

tapping map lights into dome light

^^^ would this be possible? what would be required to do this with out losing the individual control of the 3 lights? a couple of diodes and some wire?
anyhow sorry for the short choppy sentences i have been up for 26hrs now and have had this stuck in my head and wanted to ask how to do it before i go to bed. if some nows how to achive this or knows of a write up please let me know.

I did it with mine, and yes some wire and 2 diodes are all it takes. I did it a couple of years ago so the exact details are not so clear, and I didn't take any notes or pictures. Now my map lights go on with the dome lights, but can still be switched on without the dome lights if I want, which is where the diodes come in. I think the original map lights are ground switched and I had to change that to +ve switched.

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread but would it also be possible to tap into the cargo area as well? I am really interested in doing this as well, so that when I open the door, all the interior lights would come on.

I know there was a thread about how to install footwell lighting but I am not sure if there is a thread on how to tap into the cargo area lighting

i have a 2001 4runner ltd and tapping the cargo as well would be a good idea.

BUMP here as well. I am very interested. I think someone with a Toyota FSM should know. I think if you had the schematic, it is possible to just splice the wire from the dome to the cargo area light whenever one of the doors including the lift gate opens, all the light will come on.

i wish i had a fsm for my rig but the dealer want 150 a book and it is 2 parts!!
no way i am spending 300 on a fsm

so i got ahold of some fsm's from allpro and would like to host them if someone can tell me how to host mhtml format, or how to convert it to pdf..
