Tachometer & 5th gear ratio
http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tirel_Gear_Ratio.asp
...on a 1987 toyota 4x4 is 4th gear 1:1 for a 4 cyl 5 speed? that would make 5th gear over drive? Does anyone know by how much? I have 4.10 gears and plan on changing to 5.29.
Also, ive been looking for a dirt cheap tachometer, im having alot of trouble finding somethiing on the web, any ideas?

You mean something like mine:

I got that at kragans for like 12 bucks. Just wired it into my windshield wipers down by the fuse box. Works great, except 4cylinders don't need more than a 5000 RPM tach. I mounted it to the steering wheel using a big 'ole plumbing clamp from home depot.

I didn't see any tachometers there. Why do you have to do it on the net??? Kragan's has it cheap, cheap enough you won't save much going internet and having to pay shipping. Plus if you have problems, like I did (not strong enough + connection) they can help you track it down. Just go there and say you want a small tach, something like a 2in tach, they can look it up on the computer for you.
