Tach wiring
I know there are several other posts on this topic, but most of them have a bad link to somewhere.
I just replaced the cluster in my 93 p/u to get a tach. Everthing works except the tach. I also changed the oil pr unit.
Any suggestions on how to make the tach work? Rewiring?
Thanks in advance.

did your stock come w/ a tach? If it did, maybe it's not wired up correctly? If it did not, it could be that the harness doesn't have the wires for the tach?
Maybe the tach line is not connected or is bad?
Kinda hard to diagnosis these but you can start by testing each line at the gauge cluster wiring points. Maybe one of the line is dead? If it's not working then work your way to the engine and see where the problem lies.

Tach
Thanks for the responses. My current pickup is a '93 4x2, 22re 5spd, speedo, temp and gas cluster. The cluster I purchased was from a '94 4-runner. Since my truck is the really plain model w/ only a/c and cloth seat, would it be safe to assume it's probably not wired for the tach? I don't mind wiring or any hands-on projects, just did want to fry the tach in the process of testing.

I'm not really familiar w/ the wiring on later model 22RE's but you could probably find what you're looking for over at the ORC BBS. http://bbs.off-road.com/ubbthreads/p...ffroadtoytruck
Run a search using "tach wire" and hopefully find some info.
